Ying Tang, General Programmer/Analyst Intermediate
Ying received her B.S. in Materials Science from the East China University of Science and Technology (Shanghai, China) and her M.A. in Applied Mathematics with a minor in Statistics from Wayne State University, where she also pursued doctoral studies in Industrial and Systems Engineering.
She has a strong analytical foundation and extensive experience with complex, large-scale datasets. Before joining CJARS, Ying worked in the Department of Environmental Health at the University of Michigan on the Apple Hearing Study, handling nationwide survey data and Apple Watch–derived health metrics. Her work spanned data wrangling, statistical analysis and predictive modeling, and machine learning, and she led a research paper on tinnitus. She also designed and implemented automated data pipelines to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and reproducibility.
